- ½ tsp onion powder
- ¼ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp pepper
Sauce:
- 3 tbsp cornstarch, mixed with 3 tablespoons cold water
- 1 cup beef broth
- ½ cup chicken broth
- ¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 3 tbsp honey
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp hot sauce
- ¼ tsp ground ginger
Stir Fry:
- 1¼ lbs strip steak, flank steak, or top sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- ¼ cup dry white wine (or chicken broth)
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 yellow onion, sliced
For Serving
- 3 cups cooked rice (optional)
- sliced green onions (optional)
Making the Sauce:
Mix the cornstarch with cold water until well combined.
In another bowl, whisk together beef broth, chicken broth, soy sauce, honey, garlic, hot sauce, and ginger.
Making the Stir Fry:
Heat olive oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat.
Add seasoned steak to the skillet and cook until browned on all sides (2-3 minutes). Remove and set aside.
Add white wine (or chicken broth) to the skillet, scraping browned bits from the bottom.
Add bell peppers and onion, cook for 3-4 minutes until softened.
Return steak to the skillet, pour in sauce mixture, and cook until sauce thickens and steak is cooked through (2-3 minutes).
Serving:
Serve Pepper Steak stir-fry over cooked rice.
Garnish with sliced green onions if desired.
Drizzle sauce over steak and rice or serve on the side for dipping.
Pro Tip: For extra flavor, marinate the sliced steak in the sauce mixture for 30 minutes to 1 hour before cooking. This allows the meat to absorb the flavors fully, resulting in an even more delicious Pepper Steak.
