Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • ¼ cup bourbon
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • Burger seasoning, to taste
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 12 slider slider buns
  • 6 slices bacon, cooked and chopped
  • 6 slices cheddar cheese
  • Burger sauce, for serving

Instructions

Mix the beef

  • Add the ground beef to a large bowl. Pour in the bourbon and Worcestershire sauce. Add the garlic powder, burger seasoning, salt, and pepper. Gently mix everything together. Try not to overwork the beef, or your sliders can turn out tough. Let the mixture rest for about 10 minutes. This gives all those flavors a little time to settle in.

Form the patties

  • Divide the beef mixture into 12 portions. Shape each portion into a small patty. Make the patties just a little larger than the buns because they’ll shrink as they cook.

Cook the burgers

  • Heat a skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for about 5 minutes per side, or until cooked through. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese over each patty. Let it melt until gooey and delicious. Honestly, this is the part where the kitchen starts smelling amazing.

Assemble the sliders

  • Spread burger sauce on the slider buns. Add the cooked patties, then pile on the chopped bacon. Top with the other half of each bun and serve right away.

Notes

  • Don’t overmix the beef. Gently combine the ingredients until everything is mixed. Overworking the meat can make the patties dense.
  • Give the beef a short rest. Ten minutes is enough to let the bourbon and seasonings work into the meat.
  • Watch the cheese closely. Cheddar only needs about a minute to melt over the hot patties.
  • Cook the bacon ahead of time. This makes assembly much quicker, especially when you’re feeding a hungry family.
  • Keep leftovers separate. Store leftover patties away from the buns so the bread doesn’t get soggy. Reheat the patties gently before serving.
