Ingredients

For the Avocado Spread

  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 1 tbsp Greek yogurt (or mayo if you want it extra rich)
  • 1 tbsp fresh lime juice
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Burgers

  • 2 beef patties (plant-based patties work great too)
  • Salt and pepper for seasoning
  • 2 slices of cheese (optional, but Tim loves cheddar)
  • 2 burger buns
  • Crisp lettuce leaves
  • Thick tomato slices
  • Red onion slices
  • Pickles (optional)

Instructions

  • Make the Spread: Scoop the avocado into a small bowl. Add the Greek yogurt, lime juice, garlic, salt, and pepper. Mash it with a fork. Leave a few small chunks for a nice texture.
  • Cook the Meat: Put salt and pepper on both sides of your patties. Cook them in a hot pan or on the grill until they are done. Add cheese during the last minute so it melts.
  • Toast the Buns: Put your buns face down in the pan for just a minute. You want them nice and golden brown.
  • Layer It Up: Spread a very thick layer of the avocado mixture on the bottom bun. Do not be shy with it!
  • Assemble: Place your juicy patty on top of the green spread. Add your lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles. Put the top bun on and enjoy every bite!

Notes

  • Spread Hack: If making ahead, press plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the spread to prevent browning.
  • Bun Secret: Always toast buns to prevent sogginess.
  • Customizing: Swap yogurt for mayo if preferred, or add hot sauce for a spicy kick.
