Ingredients

  • 3 lbs chicken wings, separated into wingettes and drumettes
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 cup honey
  • ½ tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 2 cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup cornstarch
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F.
  • In a small mixing bowl, combine salt, black pepper, garlic powder, paprika, and cayenne pepper to make a dry rub.
  • Sprinkle the dry rub mixture evenly over the chicken wings and mix well to coat the wings evenly.
  • In another mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and cornstarch.
  • Dip each chicken wing into the flour mixture and coat evenly.
  • In a deep frying pan, heat enough oil to deep fry the chicken wings over medium-high heat (around 350°F).
  • Fry the chicken wings in batches until they’re golden brown and crispy. Drain on a wire rack or paper towels to remove excess oil.
  • In a small saucepan, combine the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, and apple cider vinegar. Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until the sauce thickens and reduces by about half.
  • Once the chicken wings are done frying, toss them in the honey garlic sauce until coated evenly.
  • Transfer the chicken wings to a baking sheet and bake for 5-10 minutes until the sauce has caramelized and the wings are crispy.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

Pro Tip: For extra crispy wings, try double frying them. After the initial fry, let the wings cool for about 10 minutes, then fry them again for another 2-3 minutes until they reach your desired level of crispiness. This double frying technique ensures that the wings are perfectly crispy on the outside while remaining juicy on the inside.
Variation: For a spicy kick, add a tablespoon of sriracha sauce to the honey garlic sauce mixture. This will give your wings a deliciously fiery flavor that will keep your taste buds tingling. Adjust the amount of sriracha according to your heat preference, and don't forget to serve with a side of cooling ranch or blue cheese dressing for balance.
