Ingredients

  • 1 packet instant yeast
  • 1 ½ tsp sugar
  • ¾ tsp salt
  • ⅛-¼ tsp garlic powder and/or dried basil leaves (optional)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil + additional
  • ¾ cup warm water

Instructions

  • Mix Ingredients: Combine 1 cup flour, instant yeast, sugar, salt, garlic powder, and dried basil in a large bowl. Add olive oil and warm water, then stir well with a wooden spoon.
  • Form Dough: Gradually 1 cup flour add more flour until the dough forms a cohesive, elastic ball. It should be slightly sticky but manageable.
  • Prep Bowl: Drizzle a separate bowl generously with olive oil and transfer the dough ball into it. Roll the dough in the bowl to coat it with oil, then cover tightly with plastic wrap.
  • Let Rise: Allow the dough to rise for 30 minutes or until doubled in size in a warm place. Preheat your oven to 425F (215C) during this time if you plan to bake a pizza.
  • Shape Dough: Once risen, gently deflate the dough and transfer it to a lightly floured surface. Knead briefly until smooth, then use your hands or a rolling pin to shape it into a 12" circle.
  • Prepare Pan: Transfer the shaped dough to a parchment-lined pizza pan. Pinch or fold the edges to form a crust.
  • Add Oil: Drizzle additional olive oil over the pizza and brush it evenly over the surface, including the crust.
