Ingredients

For the Creamy Oat Base

  • ½ cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • ½ cup milk (whole milk, almond milk, oat milk, or soy milk)
  • ½ cup plain or vanilla Greek yogurt
  • 1 tsp chia seeds
  • 1 tsp raw honey or pure maple syrup
  • ½ tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch of fine sea salt (optional)

For the Toppings & Mix-Ins

  • Fresh fruit (sliced bananas, fresh blueberries, or strawberries)
  • 1 tbsp nut butter (peanut butter or almond butter, optional)
  • 1 tbsp chopped nuts or seeds (walnuts, almonds, or pumpkin seeds, optional)

Instructions

  • Combine and Stir: In a small mason jar or airtight glass container, combine the rolled oats, milk, Greek yogurt, chia seeds, honey or maple syrup, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Stir well with a spoon to make sure all the oats are underwater and the chia seeds are mixed in.
  • Chill Overnight: Seal the jar tightly with a lid. Put it in the refrigerator to soak overnight, or for at least four hours, until the oats soak up the liquid and get thick and creamy.
  • Top and Serve: In the morning, take off the lid and give the oats a quick stir. Add your family's favorite fresh fruit like sliced bananas or blueberries, a drizzle of honey, or a spoonful of nut butter. Grab a spoon and dig right in!
